"The
water jet process provides many unique advantages and capabilities
compared to other methods of cutting. The process uses water
at 60,000 psi to remove material without heat. This cold cutting
process uses a supersonic stream of water to "grind"
away the small grains of material. A very fine abrasive can
be added to the water stream to increase the power of the
process many times (called abrasive jet as opposed to water
jet)."
